Yellow Barks Spider

by Plasticine Cowboy

/
1.
Taxonomy 01:59 video
it started with a little black box, past a door and down a hall, one with a lightswitch that didn’t seem to work. old corridor with a draft, a sound, voice, there might have been someone talking to me.
2.
Cowspider 01:59
this time, it was a hot summer. tall green weeds spanned the dusty yard, and i was walking towards the door. no one was around.
3.
Trains 01:35
here among the pines, all lines converge into a broad plain, crisscrossed by steel trains and skeletal structures that moan rusty with the wind. the creaking giants were sleeping heavily all around, dreaming their slow dreams.
4.
Shed 01:16
the wood was coming together, white flecks of paint peeling off gray slats drilled through by wasps and ants rusty nails jagged as teeth, an explosion in reverse animating the walls, windows, beams together until i stood again before the shed, a hovering form amidst the surrounding black.
5.
Jackfish 01:30
in a few places, the water is clear enough to see the muddy rocks below, the blue crayfish shooting backwards quick as darts, see the light play on the lake floor. but where we are fishing, the water drops off darker. deeper.
6.
Holes 03:16
he was the rusted drain in the sink: a drain, defined by an absence, known by the way the cloudy water circles it as it travels through, down into the earth. no more, no less: a nothing.
7.
Drive 01:12
somewhere in the night, a roaring engine split the trunks of trees opening black asphalt and tar through the wild frontier. the engine rose louder, scattering nightbirds and coyotes, stinking like hot rubber and smoke.
8.
Astronaut 04:22
his clothes, his scabbing and festering burns, his ragged skin, all stripping away and floating above him in long translucent ribbons, peeling away, smooth marble revealed beneath, baptized and born again. deep in the water, he opens his eyes, alive.
9.
Cowboy 02:07
a man rides a horse across a dusty plain on the screen. he’s riding up to the camera with a wide hat and cigarette and a big mean revolver in his hand. the man on the horse on the screen is grimacing into the camera, searching the horizon for his quarry.
10.
Calico 02:26 video
i could feel my body turning inside out, hot and acid, strands of spit clinging to my lips, and i was vomiting, and all the dense and muggy air that clung to my skin swirled around in candy-apple sweetness and deep-fried sugardough and huge marquees of strobing lights all exploding neon voices kids screaming there was a kid crying and screaming drowned out by the voice on a megaphone howling at passersby.
11.
Eraser 04:06
he fires his revolver into the skyless air above him, splitting the silence into space and time as the gunshot resounds.
12.
Teenager 05:00
a transfiguration was taking place. on four legs, the dog-man cometh.
13.
Catshead 03:18
the cat’s head. the cat’s head. over and over again i can’t stop thinking it.
14.
Portal 05:36
in the center, there is the doorway on the plain: the plain that emanates outward, the vast dusty expanse. timeless, and haunted. his body was in transition, from the singular into the multitude. from one, many.
15.
Dust 01:47
and with this will alone, a body exploded into a multitude, a cluster of letters on a page, a meaning, a thought. and without a sound, a pattern was being broken. and with only a sound, a river was set in motion.
16.
Whale 01:47 video
here is the future, same as the past: a whale is a door, a mouth is a door, memory of a door is a door. shame is a room of locked doors, a shed that cannot be opened.
17.
Blue 02:50
and through the crumbling ceiling, light. through the holes drilled in the splintering wood, light. light.
